Vicky Pattison has revealed that she is devastated Ant McPartlin won’t be presenting I’m A Celebrity this year, as she offered her support to the troubled star.

The TV presenter, 30, said that she was one of the first people to text him when it emerged that he had a problem with drink and drugs, after striking up a friendship during their time in the Australian jungle.

However despite admitting that she will miss him on this year’s show, she told the Sun that she completely backs his decision to take a step back and not film the 2018 series.

The Geordie native said: ‘Ant and I are mates, I absolutely love him. I think I echo a nation’s sentiment when I say I’m devastated he won’t be doing the jungle. 

‘It’s a show that’s so synonymous with him and Dec. He will be missed — there’s no two ways about it. And actually, I think he’d like to hear that.’

Vicky added that she believes Ant, 42, and Dec, 43, make the show, meaning that last year he was rushed into returning due to the pressure surrounding him.

She said that she didn’t think it was fair on him just because the whole country was waiting for him to make a return to the show.  

Ant admitted to an addiction to prescription drugs which he had kept hidden for two years following a knee operation.

The star was hospitalised after taking bills and forced to check into rehab, following these events in March Ant was arrested after crashing his car, before he was then readmitted to rehab.  

Ant is currently taking time out indefinitely so he can wholeheartedly focus on his recovery, meaning that Dec will now co-host the show with Holly Willoughby.

Vicky gushed that the presenting duo are two of her favourite people in the showbiz industry because of their genuine characteristics, adding that Ant should be given the time and space to recover.

Although I’m A Celebrity won’t be the same for Vicky without Ant she assured that Holly will do a brilliant job and wished her luck.

Vicky, who rose to frame on the first series of Geordie Shore, reflected on her own time in the jungle, which saw her win the series – where celebs were ordered to 

The former Geordie shore star most recently filmed a Channel 4 charity special of Celebrity Hunted alongside Kay Burley and ex-Olympian Louis Smith.

Vicky and her co-stars were ordered to ditch their mobiles for the show, which she admitted she struggled with due to being ‘hooked’ to her phone.

She confessed that she tries to convince herself her phone is necessary for her like of work but she doesn’t like how obsessed she has become and often worries over the amount of likes or followers she has.

Vicky, who was one of the last people to see him alive, has spent two weeks at a holistic bootcamp in Portugal in order to help with her grieving process.

She credits the Prestige bootcamps for helping her following the loss, she was able to put her bad thoughts into a healthy outlet until she finally felt like herself again.
