SEE IT: Vandal destroys, steals mailbox outside upstate home

A clueless vandal was caught red-handed on a security camera destroying a mailbox outside an upstate home Saturday morning — and later jogging off with it.

The suspect and a group of at least four other men were spotted vandalizing the mailbox outside the home in Ramapo in Rockland County at 1:18 a.m. Saturday.

An unidentified white man, wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, then returned at 3:02 a.m., dumping mail from the battered box on the front porch, the video captured by homeowner Arya Rabinowitz shows.

The video shows the vandal then trotting off with the box.

Rabinowitz discovered what happened when he saw police on his block Saturday morning.

“They told me what happened,” he said. “They were looking around to see what they could find.”

Rabinowitz said the officers found the top of his mailbox on the lawn a few houses away — and that security cameras positioned in front of his home caught much of the incident.

The former Brooklyn resident noted his suburban home was robbed last year, and that the case was never solved.

He believes the latest incident is related.

“I strongly believe I’m the target,” he said, noting that none of his neighbors’ mailboxes were as damaged.

Police are investigating.

“We had a couple of incidents,” said Ramapo Detective Sgt. Brian Corbett. “We are looking into it.”
