European stocks end the day lower.


UK FTSE, the biggest loser

The European major stock indices are ending the day with lower levels.

  • German Dax fell -0.4%
  • France’s CAC fell -0.1%
  • UK’s FTSE fell -0.8%
  • Spain’s Ibex fell -0.3%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB fell -0.1%
  • Portugals PSI20 fell -0.44%

In the 10 year not sector, yields are trading unchanged to up a little

  • Germany 0.526%, +1.5 basis points
  • France 0.751%, +1.1 basis points
  • UK 1.464%, +2.9 basis points
  • Spain 1.244%, unchanged
  • Italy 1.802%, unchanged
  • Portugal 1.650%, unchanged

In other markets as European/London traders look to exit:

  • Spot gold is higher by $1 or 0.07% at $1346.57
  • WTI crude oil futures are trading down $1.14 or -1.68% at $66.26
  • Bitcoin is trading down $319 and is back below the $8000 level and $7981.  The digital currency moved up to a high price of $8398 today.

In the US stock market near midday:

  • S&P indexes up 17.6 points or 0.66% at 2673.80
  • NASDAQ is up 32 points or 0.44% at 7138
  • Dow industrial average is up about 200 points or 0.82% at 24560

The GBP remains the strongest currency at the European close.  The USD is now the weakest currency of the majors.
