Lady Gaga’s dog walker was reportedly shot while walking the singer’s french bulldogs in Los Angeles.
The victim was allegedly shot as two of the singer’s dogs, Koji and Gustav, were stolen in Hollywood.
A source close to the 34-year-old singer reportedly told CNN that the dog walker was “recovering well” and that Lady Gaga “is offering half a million dollars to anyone who has her two dogs, no questions asked”. They also provided an email address for anyone with information to contact.
A representative for CAA, the agency which represents Lady Gaga, did not immediately respond to the Guardian’s request for comment.
The Los Angeles police department (LAPD) said they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon shooting in Hollywood at 9.45pm on Wednesday in which a man in his 30s suffered from a gunshot wound and two french bulldogs were taken.
A spokesman said that on Thursday morning the victim was in hospital “in critical condition” and an investigation under way.
The police department said there was at least one suspect in the case and that they fled in a white vehicle. They also said a semiautomatic handgun was used. No arrests have been made.
LAPD was not able to confirm the victim’s identity or the dogs’ connection to Lady Gaga.
The Oscar and Grammy-winning singer, also known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, regularly shares pictures of her dogs online. One of her dogs, Miss Asia, has her own Instagram account, featuring pictures in costume, on the red carpet and with Santa.
According to DailyMail.com, Miss Asia escaped the attack and was taken to the LAPD’s headquarters and retrieved by one of the singer’s bodyguards. An LAPD spokesman said they did not have that information.
The website reported that the dog walker had been taking care of the three dogs while the singer was in Rome working on a film.
French bulldogs are a highly coveted breed and sell for thousands of dollars.
