The biggest question hanging over the couple is their status as Royals. After they announced they were stepping back from their duties, the Sussexes were granted a one-year review period, due to expire on 31 March. Prince Harry is currently captain general of the Royal Marines, honorary air force commandant of RAF base Honington and honorary commodore–in–chief of small ships and diving. He stands to lose all those titles if, as is likely, the couple do not return to The Firm.

But while that move will be symbolically significant, arguably Oprah will be more interested in its personal consequences. Prince Harry’s once-close relationship with Prince William was evidently strained by the pressures of Megxit. And while it is not known how close the brothers and their families are now, a year of Covid-enforced separation and Zoom calls will have left its mark. Since his marriage to Meghan, Prince Harry has become increasingly open about his struggles with mental health in the wake of Princess Diana’s death and growing up in the media spotlight. Expect his chat with Oprah, renowned for winckling confessions from her celebrity guests with her intimate style, to be similarly frank.

Away from personal issues, the couple will undoubtedly wish to plug their Spotify podcast, Archewell Audio, and may even reveal more details about their substantial Netflix contract. They may also discuss their non-profit Archewell Foundation which aims to deliver “compassion in action” by working with partners like Silicon Valley’s Centre for Humane Technology and The Loveland Foundation, which strives to empower black women and girls.
