President Donald Trump endorses Pete Sessions for re-election to Congress | Dallas Police

Last week. House Speaker Paul Ryan campaigned in Dallas with Sessions. Vice President Mike Pence, and perhaps Trump, are expected to make visits to the 32nd Congressional District on behalf of Sessions.

Allred, making his first run for public office, was motivated to run in part after Trump’s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.

An endorsement from Trump is likely to motivate conservatives in the north and east Dallas County district. But Trump is not a popular Republican in much of Dallas County. He finished third in the county in the 2016 Texas presidential primary behind Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida.

Clinton won the district against Trump in the general election, while Sessions pulled more votes than either candidate.
