PHOENIX – Parts of Sky Harbor Airport’s Terminal 4 have been shut down Sunday morning as police investigate a vehicle that was left unattended.

Airport officials say travelers should avoid coming to Terminal 4 until the situation is resolved. Affected airlines include: Air Canada, American Airlines, British Airways, Southwest Airlines, Volaris, WestJet, and Condor.

Southwest Airlines is reporting delays or cancellations for more than 30 flights, as of 10:15 a.m. Check current flight status.

Julie Rodriguez, with the Phoenix Aviation Department, said the pre-security area in the east side of the terminal has been evacuated.

Three of four security checkpoints have also been closed, she said.

Viewer video from inside the airport showed dozens of people packed at the terminal as they awaited updates on the situation. See viewer video in the player above.

The PHX Sky Train is not dropping passengers off at Terminal 4 as officials investigate the situation, and State Route 143 ramps to the airport have been closed.

Check current traffic conditions.

Rodriguez said Phoenix police are working to resolve the incident as soon as possible.
