SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) – A big day for race fans, the auction was held as scheduled at the Badlands Motor Speedway. Race fans and drivers alike are hoping the gates will open soon.

Dozens of people showed up to Badlands Motor Speedway this afternoon hoping to see who the new owner would be. But, the auction was not open to the public.

“I miss racing,” Greg Gunderson, a local race fan said. “I don’t like to travel far to watch racing. I really want to come here and watch racing. I grew up going to this track, watching my grandpa race and myself, I’ve raced here for 30 years. I want to see it back in action.”

A bystander we spoke to said an official told him there were eight different bidders that came to the track. But, that doesn’t count towards the number of potential online bidders.

We reached out to Chuck Brennan about the auction to see if the track has a new owner. He told us the auction did happen and they will release a statement on Monday, Sept. 17th.

The race track has been a landmark for the city of Brandon since the 1950s.
