Hurricane Florence latest: Flash flood emergency issued in North Carolina | World | News

A flash flood emergency is in place and numerous water rescues are underway in Goldsboro and Princeton, North Carolina as widespread flooding continues to ravage the state.

The National Weather Service has warned “citizens are losing time to evacuate before the flood water becomes too high”.

A second flash flood emergency is in effect for Carteret, Pamlico, Craven and Jones counties, North Carolina.

More than two feet of rain has bombarded the counties.

Catastrophic damage has occurred to homes and businesses.

Hurricane Florence is currently located about 15 miles north-northeast of Myrtle Beach, North Carolina.

Winds continue at more than 70 mph.

There have already been 360 rescues in New Bern, North Carolina since Hurricane Florence made landfall on Friday morning.

But more than 140 people are still waiting to be helped.

Rescue efforts have been widespread across the city and teams are still searching for residents.
