Harry Kane‘s failure to score in Friday’s 0-0 draw with Croatia saw the England captain equal his longer goalless run for the national side.

Tottenham talisman Kane has now gone scoreless in his last six outings for the Three Lions since converting a 57th-minute penalty against Colombia at the World Cup.

Despite seeing Kane fail to net against Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Croatia (twice) and Sweden, England boss Gareth Southgate is confident his No 9 will soon be back among the goals.

Kane hit the woodwork and also had the ball in the net on Friday night — only to be called offside.

Southgate said: ‘He buried that chance but was just offside, but Harry will get us goals.

‘We were a real threat. The most important thing for the team is we create chances, look dangerous, and I have faith the players who didn’t score will score.

‘This feels like a game we should have won but I was really pleased with the way we played. We dictated the flow for a long period and the second-half performance was excellent, pushing right to the end.

‘I couldn’t ask for more from the players. We just have to make sure we finish the chances. On another day, we will.’

The last time Kane went six England games without a goal was in 2016, between June and September when Portugal, Russia, Wales, Slovakia (twice) and Iceland were his opponents.

He returned to form with a bang on that occasion by bagging five goals in his next three games.

Southgate will be hoping Kane can find top form on Monday night when England take on Spain in Seville.

Kane’s next international goal will be his 20th for England. He has currently played in 32 games at senior level.
